Amidst Chase controversy Joey Logano rose above on Friday to win the pole for Sunday's GEICO 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. He set a new track record with a speed of 189.414 mph and 28.509 seconds.
The pole was the second of 2013 and seventh of Logano's Sprint Cup Series career.
Other Chase drivers in the starting lineup are Kyle Busch in 12th, Kurt Busch in 16th, Kevin Harvick 17th, Dale Earnhardt Jr 18th, Ryan Newman 20th, and Clint Bowyer 24th.
All 43 drivers at the track made the race. Cole Whitt, in his first start for Swan Racing, will start from the 28th and Justin Allgaier will make his Sprint Cup Series debut from the 36th position driving for Phoenix Racing.
