The three-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel won his fourth pole of the 2013 Formula 1 season in round 12 on Saturday at Monza. He will start the Italian Grand Prix from the prime position in an attempt to win his sixth race of the season and extend his points lead even further.
Vettel's Red Bull Racing teammate Mark Webber will start from second. Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg had a terrific qualifying day and in Q3 put in the third fastest time to start from the third position on Sunday. Ferrari was left disappointed in their home grand prix after qualifying with Felipe Massa in fourth and Fernando Alonso in fifth.
Mercedes' Nico Rosberg will start sixth and Daniel Ricciarrdo, the newly announced Red Bull driver for 2014, will start seventh in his Toro Rosso. The McLaren duo of Sergio Perez and Jenson Button will start eighth and ninth respectively and Jean-Eric Vergne will start from tenth for Toro Rosso.
There drivers shockingly did not get out of Q2. Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus will start from 11th and his teammate Romain Grosjean in 13th. Starting 12th is Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes who had drama on his Q2 laps where he went off course and was slowed by Adrian Sutil.
The Italian Grand Prix can be seen at 8 a.m. ET Sunday on the NBC Sports Network.
