Ricky Stenhouse Jr Wins First NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pole

Ricky Stenhouse Jr bumped his Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards from the top spot on Friday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway to win his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole. He turned a lap of 189.688 mph and 29.227 seconds.

Edwards will start second. Juan Pablo Montoya will start from third, Denny Hamlin fourth, and Jeff Gordon fifth.

Matt Kenseth will start Sunday night's AdvoCare 500 from sixth, Martin Truex Jr will start seventh, Dale Earnhardt Jr eighth, Kyle Busch ninth, and Jimmie Johnson tenth. Joey Logano will roll off from 11th, Clint Bowyer 12th, AJ Allmendinger 13th, David Ragan 14th, Jamie McMurray 15th, Paul Menard 16th, Ryan Newman 17th, Kasey Kahne 18th, Casey Mears 19th, and Marcos Ambrose 20th. Danica Patrick starts from 21st, Brian Vickers 22nd, Brad Keselowski 23rd, and Greg Biffle 24th.

Other notables in the starting lineup are Mark Martin in 27th, Kevin Harvick 30th, and Kurt Busch 32nd. All 43 teams that were at the track made the race.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will have two practices on Saturday and then the AdvoCare 500 can be seen at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday night on ESPN.
