Denny Hamlin won the pole for the Irwin Tools Race Night at Bristol Motor Speedway. It's Hamlin's 16th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole and the fourth of his 2013 season. Hamlin took the pole at a speed of 128.969 mph. Joining Hamlin on the front row will be Kurt Busch in the Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet.
Starting third is Carl Edwards with Brian Vickers starting in the fourth position. Matt Kenseth will start fifth with Joey Logano starting sixth. Kasey Kahne wlll start seventh with Ryan Newman starting eighth. Martin Truex Jr will roll off from the ninth position and Aric Almirola rounds out the top ten in his Richard Petty Motorsports Ford.
Starting 11th is Mark Martin. Martin is driving the #14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet this weekend subbing for the injured Tony Stewart. Starting 12th is Brad Keselowski with Jimmie Johnson starting in the 13th position. Starting in the 14th position is Marcos Ambrose with Kevin Harvick rolling off 15th. Starting 16th is Juan Pablo Montoya with David Ragan starting 17th. Starting 18th is Ryan Truex. Truex is making his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut this weekend running for Phoenix Racing. Starting 19th is Dale Earnhardt Jr and starting 20th is Jamie McMurray.
Other notables in the field include Danica Patrick in 22nd, Bobby Labonte in 23rd, Clint Bowyer in 24th, Ricky Stenhouse Jr in 27th and Greg Biffle 29th. Jeff Gordon will start from the 32nd position and Jeff Burton will start 41st. Kyle Busch will start from the 43rd position Saturday night after making contact with the turn two wall on his qualifying lap. Busch hit the wall with the right rear of his car and the team will elect to fix it instead of going to a backup car.
There were 44 cars entered for the Irwin Tools Race Night at Bristol Motor Speedway meaning one driver went home. That driver was Mike Bliss from Milwaukee, Oregon.
