Joey Logano took the pole for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Logano set a record speed of 203.949 mph, in the ninth fastest qualifying speed in NASCAR history. It's Logano's sixth career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole and the first of his 2013 season.
On the outside of the front row is Kurt Busch with Jimmie Johnson third, and Mark Martin fourth. Rounding out the top five is veteran Jeff Burton. Starting in the sixth position is Juan Pablo Montoya with Dale Earnhardt Jr starting seventh, eighth is Denny Hamlin, ninth is Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch rounded out the top ten.
Starting 11th is Clint Bowyer with enginemate Matt Kenseth starting in the 12th position. Starting in the 13th position is Jeff Gordon and Aric Almirola will roll off from the 14th position. Starting in 15th is Kevin Harvick with Greg Biffle starting 16th, Martin Truex Jr starting 17th, Trevor Bayne starting 18th, starting 19th is Carl Edwards and Paul Menard rounds out the top 20.
Other notables in qualifying include, Austin Dillon in 27th. Dillon is filling in for Tony Stewart in the #14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet this weekend. Danica Patrick will start from the 28th position and Kasey Kahne rolls off from the 31st position.
There were 44 drivers entered for the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway meaning one driver failed to qualify for the field. That driver was Scott Riggs out of Durham, North Carolina. Riggs was driving the #19 Toyota this weekend at Michigan.
