On Tuesday Barracuda Racing owners Bryan Herta and Steve Newey announced that the final five races of the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season will be split between JR Hildebrand and Luca Filippi. Hildebrand will drive the No. 98 car at the next scheduled race on August 25th at Sonoma Raceway and at the season finale at Auto Club Speedway on October 19. Filippi will drive at the Grand Prix of Baltimore on September 1st and the doubleheader in Houston on October 5th and 6th.
Hildebrand lost his ride with Panther Racing after the first five races of the season. He has 39 career IndyCar Series starts with one podium coming in 2011.
Filippi made his IndyCar Series debut on August 4th at Mid-Ohio when he finished 16th in the No. 98 for Barracuda Racing.
"We were very impressed with Luca and happy to give him two more outings," Herta said. "He made a good impression on everyone, and this will allow him the chance to race on American-style street circuits."
