Andrew Ranger passed Chase Elliott in the closing stages of the Barbera's Autoland 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park Sunday to go to victory lane for the third straight time at the road course in the ARCA Racing Series. All of Ranger's three career ARCA Racing Series victories have come at NJMP. The pass was made with 10 laps to go and Ranger went onto win by 7.89 seconds.
Cherry Hill, New Jersey native Tom Hessert also passed Elliott late in the race to finish second as Elliott came home third. Ranger described his mind set in the front of the field.
“You never know what can happen with the last lap, 10 to go or five to go,” Ranger said. “I tried to be relaxed in the car and not make a mistake. Definitely I think we did a really good job – all the team did.”
Chase Elliott led the most laps with 34 but faded at the end. Will Kimmel had his second straight top ten finish by finishing fourth and Frank Kimmel finished in the fifth position.
Finishing sixth was Justin Boston, Brian Wong finished seventh, eighth was Mason Mingus with Steve Minghenelli ninth and Austin Wayne Self in the tenth position.
Ranger led 30 of the races 67 laps and Will Kimmel led three. There were only three cautions in the race.
Frank Kimmel once again extended his points lead now after 12 races.
On August 2nd the ARCA Racing Series will run the ModSpace 123 at Pocono Raceway and the race will be broadcasted live on Speed.
