NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ryan Newman will race for Turner Scott Motorsports in the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway next Wednesday. He will drive the No. 34 Chevrolet Silverado with sponsorship from Oral-B, Aggressive Hydraulics and WIX Filters.
It was rumored that Newman would be in the race and return to his roots of dirt track racing but now we know what team he will race for. It was simply an event that Newman did not want to miss.
“This race is going to be something really special in NASCAR’s history,” Newman said. “I've always enjoyed racing in the Truck Series, and to be able to get back and race on dirt with a truck, I think everyone will be in for a special treat. We were able to test at 311 and I thought everything went as planned and I know Chris and the rest of the Oral-B team will have a great truck prepared for the race at Eldora.”
Newman has raced in four previous Truck Series races. His last was for the team that is now Turner Scott Motorsports in 2011 at Atlanta. He has finished in the top five in all of the four races and won his first start in 2008 driving for Kevin Harvick Incorporated at Atlanta.
Newman is currently 19th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points standings after 19 races. It is the last season Newman will be driving the No. 39 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing as he is looking for a new home for the 2014 season.Tags: Chris Carrier, Eldora, Eldora Speedway, Kevin Harvick Incorporated, Motorsports, NASCAR, Ryan Newman, Sprint Cup Series, Stewart-Haas Racing, Turner Scott Motorsports
