Oklahoma will host an incredibly dynamic fight when two welterweight striking specialists will meet. Jordan Mein and Thiago Alves have agreed to an August 23rd bout in Tulsa, Oklahoma at a Fight Night taking place late in the summer. These men, who are set on breaking their way into the top 15 of the UFC’s vicious welterweight division, will be on the fast track to doing so with a win in this pivotal bout.
Mein, a young, up and coming fighter coming out of Canada has been one of Canada’s most promising prospect since the rise of Rory MacDonald. Sporting a 2-1 record in the UFC, the numbers don’t do Mein justice. His lone loss is to Matt Brown, who has been doing nothing but knocking his opponents out recently, but, even in that fight, Mein was able to hurt Brown to with a huge body shot. With Mein, the sky is the limit and fighting Thiago Alves is another tough opportunity to prove his worth.
Alves has had a long and storied career with the UFC. A former title challenger, Alves is a fan favorite who has a ferocity in the ring that not many can match. Alves is known for his vicious Muay Thai and fight-ending leg kicks. After spending the better part of two years doing his best to get rid of any and every injury that had been plaguing him, Alves returned the the UFC victorious in April with a decision win over Seth Baczynski. A win over a young, hungry contender like Jordan Mein will put Alves in a position to invite a fight with a tip 15 opponent and get back to the title contention he was once in.
