A Welterweight tilt between two prospects has been announced for the upcoming Dublin Fight Night. The UFC announced via Icelandic television show that Gunnar Nelson will look to put his perfect UFC record up against an equally impressive fighter in Ryan LaFlare. Everyone loves a fight between two unbeaten prospects, and, the potential for an outstanding ground fight is great in this bout.

Nelson, since coming into the UFC is 3-0 with two submissions. Nelson is easily the best fighter to come out of Iceland and is a multiple time ADCC jiu-jitsu champion. His cerebral approach to fighting and unorthodox karate style stand-up has made Nelson a fan favorite. He is also closely linked to John Kavanaugh, Conor McGregor and the the SBG gym out of Ireland. Nelson, despite being from Iceland, is an Irish fan favorite. Coming off a destruction Omari Akhmedov, Nelson needed a step up in competition to show his true potential.

Ryan LaFlare is another grappler who has done nothing but impress in his UFC career. After quietly putting together a 4 fight win streak in the welterweight division. After winning a close fight with John Howard earlier this month, LaFlare has done enough to earn a bigger, more recognizable name. LaFlare’s biggest victory to date may have come when he defeated Court McGee, with McGee an Ultimate Fighter winner, many finally began to recognize LaFlare’s name.

LaFlare also has a wrestling and jiu-jitsu background, though, on paper, Nelson has the advantage in the submission department. With that being said, LaFlare has all the tools he needs to shutdown Nelson and win this fight with is standup and ground and pound. Whose ‘0’ will go?
