Loading ...Evan Cutts defeated Reagan Penn via unanimous decision at Pro Elite: Big Guns. Dominating Penn for the majority of the fight, Cutts exposed a weakness that has been attributed to Penn's brother B.J. in the past, stamina.
Penn scored an immediate takedown, but Cutts defended well, and got back to his feet quickly. Trapped against the cage in the clinch, Penn tried to fight his way free, but was eventually taken down by Cutts. Scrambling out, Penn had Cutts head momentarily, before releasing it, and taking Cutts down. With Cutts fighting his way free, Penn tried throwing him back down but was unsuccessful. Penn then chased Cutts back against the cage with a trio of good hooks, before taking him back down. Getting stuck in a D'arce choke while trying to get back up, Penn ended up under Cutts. Working back to his feet, Penn was taken down again, and Cutts encouraged the hematoma on Penn's forehead to keep growing with a few punches.
Penn came out of his corner for the second round sucking wind, and ate three body kicks from Cutts. Taking Penn down, Cutts looked for a leg lock, before giving up on it and trying a choke. Unable to find that either, Cutts was pushed back to guard, after getting a few punches through. Struggling to pass Penn's guard, Cutts took advantage of a triangle attempt to control Penn's leg and pass to side control. From there he quickly moved to full mount, taking Penn's back when he rolled over. Flattening Penn out, Cutts connected quite a few times, but not with enough power or frequency to finish the fight. Eyes closed and exhausted, Penn survived the round in a rear-naked choke.
Cutts came straight forward for the final round putting two straights on Penn's chin. Dropping him with another seconds later, Cutts fell into half guard and continued throwing. Slowing, but still keeping Penn down, Cutts remained in control and did enough to keep the fight on the ground. Getting to his knees a few times, Penn fought to escape, but was turned back over by Cutts each time. Cheered on by his corner, Penn finally got back to his feet as the round ended.
