According to the Milwaukee Brewers’ official Twitter account, All-Star center fielder Carlos Gomez has a sprained right knee and is listed as day-to-day.

The examination confirmed the sprained knee, which he sustained while making a leaping catch of a drive hit by Brandon Phillips in the fourth inning of Thursday night’s 2-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Miller Park. The video of the play is below:

To address the issue of outfield depth—Gomez’s injury leaves just three healthy outfielders on the active roster in Norichika Aoki, Khris Davis and Logan Schafer—the Brewers optioned pitcher Alfredo Figaro to Triple-A Nashville and recalled first baseman-outfielder Sean Halton from Nashville, also per the team’s official Twitter account.

Halton was up for about a month earlier this season. He was recalled in late June when Scooter Gennett was sent down and was sent back to the Sounds on July 27 when reliever Rob Wooten was recalled. He was 9-for-45 with a homer, two doubles and two RBI in 19 games with Milwaukee and is hitting .288/.347/.494 with 11 home runs, 27 doubles and 47 RBI in 346 plate appearances at Nashville.

Figaro is 2-3 with a 4.25 ERA and 1.249 WHIP in 26 appearances, including five starts, over 65.2 innings for the Brewers. The 29-year-old right-hander made the club in spring training after signing a minor-league deal with the Brewers in January. He was released by the Detroit Tigers in December 2010 and spent 2011 and 2012 pitching for the Orix Buffaloes in the Japan Pacific League.

Figaro missed more than a month with a strained oblique and was activated from the disabled list on July 24.
