The Michigan State football team triumphed on Senior Day this weekend as they came out ahead for their final game of the regular season against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 14-3. The Spartans extend their winning streak to eight games and finish the regular season with an 8-0 record in the Big Ten, 11-1 overall. This was the first time the Spartans have gone undefeated in conference play since doing it back-to-back in 1965-66.
The Spartan defense showed their usual stuff against Minnesota. They forced three turnovers and kept the Golden Gophers out of the end zone. MSU has not allowed a touchdown in five of their last six games. Minnesota’s leading rusher, David Cobb, did make it interesting for the number one defense in the nation as he ran for 101 yards on the ground.
Jeremy Langford led the Spartan offense again as he ran for 134 yards on the ground with a touchdown. He has extended his 100+ yards per game streak to seven games. Langford leads the Big Ten in rushing touchdowns, and is tied for 11th in the FBS.
The Spartans now look to their big game next week. They will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana where they will face the Leaders Division Champs, the Ohio state Buckeyes for Big Ten Title game.
