Despite having a stellar career at Michigan State, former tight end Brian Linthicum can't seem to get an NFL team to gain interest. After not getting picked up during the 2012 NFL Draft, Linthicum signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets. However, the Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum announced that, despite being seen as a potential back-up tight end, Linthicum will not be invited to the Jets training camp.
The road for Linthicum had not been easy since the draft. He sustained an injury to his quadriceps, which forced him to miss the Jets minicamp, which would have given him an opportunity to showcase his talents for the coaches.
We here at Spartans 101 know just what Brian Linthicum is capable of, after seeing him prosper during his time in East Lansing. Here's hoping that his injuries will not be detrimental to his career and a different NFL team will see his potential.
