The Miami Heat officially signed Chris Bosh to his new max deal contract the other day, however Bosh is in the headlines for other news he made. He admitted on the "Zaslow and Joy Show," on FM 104.3 The Ticket in Miami via ESPN.com that he was very close to bolting the Miami Heat this offseason to take his talents somewhere else. This is good news for Miami Heat fans as they would have been torn to pieces if they lost Bosh and LeBron James in free agency. Two major components to their long run in not only the Eastern Conference, but the NBA as well.
Bosh may not be a superstar elite player, but he is still a key piece to any franchise, especially to a Heat team that was reeling after James left to go back home to Cleveland. This let's Heat fans know that they did not completely lose out in free agency and that they can still contend in at least the Eastern Conference and make it to the NBA Finals once again. This is especially good news since the newest trend that might be going around is players going back home or close to their home to play for their hometown team, or at least entertaining the idea of it.
Bosh was being pursued by the Houston Rockets, which is in his home state of Texas, but Bosh eventually signed on to return back to the Heat. Bosh has not been the number one scoring option since his days as being a Toronto Raptor and he might have to be that again. With James gone, Bosh will see his touches go up and with Dwyane Wade health being an uncertainty, Bosh might just have to be that number one scoring threat for the team. It will be interesting to see what Bosh can bring to the table as having to step his game up and possibly be the leader of the team as well.
