San Antonio Spurs are already putting plans into place for next season after winning the NBA Championship on Sunday with a 104-87 victory over Miami Heat which was enough to give them a series win of 4-1.
The Texas based basketball team will be bidding for their third straight final in 2015 as they were runners-up 12 months ago before getting their hands on the trophy this year.
The title brings up Spurs’ fifth NBA Championship. Their first arrived in 1999, while they went through a spell in the 2000s which saw them win the basketball’s biggest prize three times in five seasons.
San Antonio will start next season as one of the favourites to be successful again with Betfair as they chase further glory and look to emulate Miami by defending their crown just like the Heats did in 2013.
In the fifth game of the series, Spurs were well on top by the end of the final quarter. Kahwli Leonard scored 22 points for the NBA Champions and 10 rebounds. He was one of the players who consistently played well throughout the finals and as a result picked up the Most Valuable Player award.
Despite defeat, It was Heat who started the game the better though, and it was them who established a 29-22 lead after the first quarter. They looked on course at this stage to extend the series into a sixth game. However, Spurs upped their game after the second quarter and went into half-time with a 47-40 advantage.
The third quarter was where most of the damage was done for Miami. They lost that segment of the game 30-18 as Spurs were scoring frequently to extend their lead.
Although, the last quarter went Heat’s way 29-27, it was not enough to the delight of backers of San Antonio with Betfair.Tags: Basketball, Miami, Miami Heat, NBA, San Antonio, San Antonio Spurs
