One day after the Miami Dolphins suffered their first loss of the 2013 season to the New Orleans Saints, two players were waived from the team. The Dolphins announced on Tuesday that fullback Tyler Clutts and safety Kelcie McCray would no longer be Dolphins. Following a poor performance on "Monday Night Football" its clear that changes need to be made in order for the team to bounce back.
About a month to the day fullback Tyler Clutts, was picked up by the Dolphins off of waivers from the Houston Texans. Clutts formerly played for the Chicago Bears in 2011 as a fullback and wide receiver. During his four games with the Dolphins he recorded just one fumble recovery. In the preseason he had just a couple of receptions for 18 yards.
Following last night's tough loss in New Orleans, Clutts took to Twitter to express his disappointment.
"Tough one tonight, but no time to dwell on it. There's a lot of work to be done this week. Got to get this next one!! #FinsUp #moveforward"
Unfortunately, his positive attitude will have to carry over to his potential future in the NFL.
Safety Kelcie McCray is in his second year out of Arkansas State. So far this season he hasn't recorded any statistics. Going into Monday's game, McCray took to Twitter in a way that could be seen as possible uncertainty in new territory.
"First Monday night game…" Kelcie said dreamily on Monday.
With Clutts and McCray being waived from the team, it's a sure sign that the Dolphins aren't taking Monday's loss lightly or as a dream for that matter. The team is looking to perform for optimal success and every member of the 53-man roster has to be a contributing factor. Statistics proved that both former Dolphins weren't doing that.
This Sunday the Dolphins have their chance to rebound when they face the struggling Super Bowl champion, Baltimore Ravens (2-2) at home in Sun Life Stadium. This will be the Dolphins second home game of the season. The first came in Week 3 home opener win against the Atlanta Falcons (27-23).
