It's a Monday night game, that used to mean something more than it does today. Dandy Don Meredith and Howard Cosell used to dazzle the audience with their "never intersecting" personalities. The booth was a revolving door of other former athletes and commentators who left as quickly as they came. The game is on ESPN now and if you don't have cable or a package that includes sports you might be missing a big piece of the NFL season. But this week the game holds a bit more prominence as Miami puts its surprising 3-0 record on the line against a vastly improved Saints team.
But it also gives the Fins a chance to heal some key players. The Thursday practice schedule included the injury report that shows cornerback Dimitri Patterson did not practice due to a groin injury.
Players who were limited in practice included safety Chris Clemons (hamstring/quad), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (ribs), linebacker Jonathan Freeny (shoulder), linebacker Koa Misi (shoulder) and defensive tackles Paul Soliai and Cameron Wake who are both nursing injured knees.
The Miami Herald reports Wake's involvement as "light." They also note that Soliai has been fitted with a brace but still has a noticeable limp.
I'm sure Drew Brees' daily reading includes the health of the Dolphin D.
