Tonight, the Houston Texans are hosting the Miami Dolphins at Reliant Stadium. This is the Dolphins' third preseason game of the season. In the second quarter, with the Phins making some ground to try and tie up the game, tight end Dustin Keller attempted to make a reception when the play went bad.
Dustin Keller was attempting to make a reception off Ryan Tannehill's pass. Instead, Texan cornerback D.J. Swearinger managed to break up the pass and slam Keller in the knee. It was clear that the hit wasn't one he could brush off. Following the hit Keller was seen on the ground writhing in pain. Players surrounded him until a cart arrived to take him off the field.
The Dolphins picked up Keller from the division rival, New York Jets, on a one-year $4.25 million contract. While a Jet, Keller missed most of last season with a groin and high ankle sprain. Considering the great chemistry he and Tannehill have already built, there's no doubt that this injury could hurt an offense trying to create a new identity for itself.
