While the Lakers were in the lead for most of the game, they ran out of gas in the fourth quarter losing to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. Despite a poor shooting night for most players, the Lakers lost a winnable game.
Pau Gasol had a team high 20 points and 11 rebounds. The starting back court of Steve Nash and Steve Blake struggled shooting the ball all night, only converting on three of their 20 shots.
L.A's bench was very solid for the most part with shooting guard Jodie Meeks leading all reserves with 14 points. Wesley Johnson also had a nice showing scoring 12 points and knocking down 2 three pointers.
After averaging a team high 18 points in L.A's first two games, Xavier Henry only scored three points on Friday night. However, Henry went down with a head injury in the first half, which required nine stitches on his forehead.
Coach Mike D'Antoni had some words to say regarding Henry's fall:
"When X got hurt for whatever reason the air got out of us."
The Lakers are now at a 1-2 record, as they look to bounce back and get a win tonight playing the Atlanta Hawks.
