Shaq has played a major role for the Lakers' franchise throughout his storied career, but this time Superman is joining the Sacramento Kings as a minority owner. According to USA Today's Sam Amick, O'Neal has bought a minor stake in the Sacramento franchise.
After ESPN reported that the Kings are the worst franchise in major sports, Sacramento wasn't happy with these ratings. While the team has had some troubles with their ownership for the last couple years, the Kings are attempting to revamp their franchise into the right direction.
Furthermore, Shaq can lure free agents to Sacramento with his outgoing personality, and he can help DeMarcus Cousins mature as a player on and off the court, as the Kings are nearing a contract extension with the big man. Shaq's biggest impact on the franchise may be the development of Cousins.
Ironically, while Shaq was with the Lakers in the early 2000's, the team developed one of the leagues best rivalries with the Kings, and now O'Neal and Sacramento have joined forces in an unexpected situation. Weird huh?
No one would have thought that Shaquille O'Neal and the Sacramento Kings would come together in a partnership a decade ago, but now it happened, and any franchise would be lucky to have Shaq on board.
