Despite strong efforts, and an unaccounted goal, The Los Angeles Kings had troubles and were just not as quick, sharp, or more insistent, leading them to fall 5-1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The Lightning started the game fast and were in a hurry to finish it.
The Lightning ended the first period 2-0, and the second period 3-0.
With 3:38 remaining in the second period, goaltender Jonathan Quick was pulled after allowing his third goal. Goaltender Ben Scrivens was brought in, making his second straight appearance in the net after starting on Sunday in Sunrise, FL against the Florida Panthers.
Even though the end result was a 5-1 loss, the Kings out- shot the Lightning 31-25 and got 27-25 in faceoff wins.
The Kings finish their road trip Thursday against the Nashville Predators at 5:00 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee. They will then return home to STAPLES Center to play against the Dallas Stars at 7:30 p.m on Saturday.
