The game went into overtime because of the tied 1-1 score, but no goals were scored, so the game went to a shootout.
The first shooter in the shootout was Jeff Skinner for the Hurricanes, second was Anze Kopitar for the Kings, third was Alexander Semin for the Hurricanes, Fourth, with the one and only goal was Jeff Carter for the Kings, and fifth was Nathan Gerbe for the Hurricanes, who was rejected by goaltender Jonathan Quick to give the Kings a win.
Quick saved 28 shots during the game and improved 32-18 in his lifetime in shootouts.
