Edwin Rios continues to swing hot bat, Tulsa wins 5-4

Oklahoma City had their game postponed due to threat of severe weather so there were three Dodger minor league games on Thursday. But one of those games was suspended in the eighth inning. So the only results we have are a win for Tulsa and a one-run defeat for Rancho Cucamonga.

Player of the day

Edwin Rios leads the Texas League in batting, slugging and OPS with his .361/.382/.604 batting line. In Thursday’s game, Rios went 3-for-5 with his eighth home run of the season. One other note, Rios has five walks this season and three of those were intentional. That means Rios has walked twice in 146 plate appearances so far in 2017.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Dodgers and Sacramento River Cats (Giants) was postponed due to threat of severe weather and since the teams will not meet again this season, that game will not be made up.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers scored four runs in the second on three home runs and then got one more home run in the tenth to beat the Springfield Cardinals 5-4 on Thursday night. Matt Beaty hit his third home run of the season and that proved to be the winning run for the Drillers.

In the second inning, Johan Mieses led off with his fifth home run in May. With one out, pitcher Scott Barlow singled. And then with two out, Michael Ahmed homered and that was followed by an Edwin Rios home run.
