The Los Angeles Dodgers needed a victory on Sunday to earn a split of their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks and they pulled that off with a walk off 5-4 victory.
In the ninth inning with the Diamondbacks leading 4-3 they turned to closer JJ Putz to close the door. After striking out Bobby Abreu to start the ninth inning, Putz proceeded to allow a single to Mark Ellis and walk Shane Victorino to set the table for Adrian Gonzalez. After falling behind 0-2 in the count Gonzalez turned on a fastball hitting it down the line scoring both Mark Ellis and Shane Victorino to give the Dodgers the victory.
Chris Capuano struggled as he allowed three runs on four hits including two home runs (John McDonald and Miguel Montero) while striking out four batters.
Ronald Belisario earned the victory in relief as he pitched a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit and striking out three.
Matt Kemp appears to be fully healed from his collision with a wall earlier in the week as he finished the game 1-3 with two runs scored, a home run, and an RBI.
The Dodgers will next open up a three game home stand against the San Diego Padres.
