A huge slate of games coming this week, which makes for some difficult choices to be made.
They are welcomed though, as Chris Brown picked up his second double-digit win week of the year in going 10-5 last week, while I turned in another steady performance at 8-7.
I lead the overall competition with a 37-26 record, while Chris made up two games and is now 33-30.
As always, we select games straight up, and not for gambling purposes.
Onto our week five picks:
Buffalo at Cleveland
Chris: Browns – Easy to say Buffalo two weeks ago, but Brian Hoyer is playing great.
Steven: Browns – No need to overreact to the way Cleveland has played, but it's enough momentum to ride for now.
New Orleans at Chicago
Chris: Saints – New Orleans is playing like rock stars, and Sean Payton has a lot to do with it.
Steven: Bears – Not sure New Orleans will play the same way on the road, and Chicago is scoring every game.
New England at Cincinnati
Chris: Patriots – If Cleveland is beating you, then you're not beating New England right now.
Steven: Patriots – The New England machine just keeps rolling on.
Detroit at Green Bay
Chris: Packers – Bye week should have been a big help in preparing for Detroit.
Steven: Packers – Timing is right for Aaron Rodgers to play a huge game.
Seattle at Indianapolis
Chris: Seahawks – This is a great matchup, but Seattle is going to have even more confidence than ever after last week's comeback.
Steven: Colts – Becoming more sold on the Indianapolis defense by the week.
Baltimore at Miami
Chris: Dolphins – Miami is better than it showed on Monday, and Ryan Tannehill is coming into his own.
Steven: Ravens – Still not sure what to make of either team, but it's easier to feel better about Baltimore.
Philadelphia at New York Giants
Chris: Eagles – Yeah, the New York Giants this season.
Steven: Eagles – This doesn't bring the return of the almighty Chip Kelly revolution either.
Jacksonville at St. Louis
Chris: Jaguars – This probably will come back to haunt me.
Steven: Rams – This could be Jacksonville's best chance to avoid imperfection, but it isn't going to happen.
Kansas City at Tennessee
Chris: Chiefs – Andy Reid every week is showing how valuable he is to a franchise.
Steven: Titans – Who would have thought this would be such a great looking game before the season?
Carolina at Arizona
Chris: Panthers – Underestimated squad in Carolina, and a week off should help shape them up further.
Steven: Panthers – Ted Ginn Jr. has quietly been a great pick up, making big plays for Carolina.
Denver at Dallas
Chris: Cowboys – Dallas always plays better against good teams.
Steven: Broncos – Sorry Chris, contenders as you appointed them last week, they are not. Another joke of a defense for Peyton Manning to carve apart.
Houston at San Francisco
Chris: Texans – Neither look like the teams they were last week, but JJ Watt could end up being a nightmare to Colin Kaepernick.
Steven: 49ers – Houston is a very good team, and won't commit these last minute blunders forever. This week, San Francisco is simply better.
San Diego at Oakland
Chris: Chargers – San Diego is much improved.
Steven: Chargers – Terrelle Pryor's return puts Oakland in most games this season. Antonio Gates looks like a young man again though, and is the spark San Diego needs.
New York Jets at Atlanta
Chris: Falcons – Get rid of the Jets talk please.
Steven: Falcons – If you're the type of person who can stomach the four-letter network talk ad nauseam about the Jets for three hours, be my guest to watch this.
