It's easy to get a bit creative at times when you're attempting to make picks on a weekly basis, especially when things at first glance appear to be pretty straightforward.
Our weekly guest picker, Chris Brown, did a good job having a clear vision on what was going to happen in week two and produced his first positive week of the season in going 10-6. However, I was able to pull off a rather impressive 12-4 week, if I say so myself, thanks to some late game heroics in Buffalo.
Overall for the season, Chris now stands at 18-14, while I hold a three-game lead at 21-11.
As always, we pick games straight up, not against the spread, and all for entertainment purposes. Until one of us gets upset at the other for having a better week.
Onto our week three picks:
Kansas City at Philadelphia
Chris: Eagles – Kansas City has played well, but Dallas gave the game away last week. Philadelphia's offense is really strong.
Steven: Eagles – I have to agree here, but this should be a really close game. Kansas City can score too, and should be in it at crunch time.
Houston at Baltimore
Chris: Texans – Houston's been a strong second half team, and I expect Baltimore to take an early lead and for them to give it up late.
Steven: Ravens – I've seen Houston as a team that is supremely lucky to be 2-0 at this point.
New York Giants at Carolina
Chris: Giants – Eli Manning's interception count is unreal, but Carolina looked awful last week.
Steven: Giants – Carolina has been close to the opposite of Houston, in very close to being 2-0. However, I don't think the Giants are as bad as they've played so far.
Green Bay at Cincinnati
Chris: Packers – Aaron Rodgers has been close to unstoppable this year and the Bengals defense is still a bit suspect. I think this one won't be as close as it could.
Steven: Packers – Rodgers definitely was all over a poor defense last week. He's going to find thing a bit tougher against Cincinnati, but they prevail in a close one.
St. Louis at Dallas
Chris: Cowboys – St. Louis is starting to look like a last place squad, and if they can't get it together, will be in the running for a top draft pick.
Steven: Cowboys – Someday I will stop believing in Dallas.
Cleveland at Minnesota
Chris: Vikings – Minnesota is just the better team right now, especially after the trade to send all of Cleveland back into depression.
Steven: Vikings – The Indians are again the city of Cleveland's last hope.
Tampa Bay at New England
Chris: Buccaneers – Upset of the week special.
Steven: Patriots – It will be an upset if Tampa Bay can hold onto a late game lead right now.
Arizona at New Orleans
Chris: Saints – This should be a tough one for both teams, but New Orleans at home makes it tougher for Arizona.
Steven: Cardinals – Still cannot tell if anything is brewing in Arizona, but this week will be a good indication.
San Diego at Tennessee
Chris: Chargers – Both have really had mediocre starts, and this is my toss up of the week.
Steven: Titans – I disagree with Chris, as Tennessee has played two impressive games so far.
Detroit at Washington
Chris: Redskins – First win seems primed to happen in this one.
Steven: Lions – RG III needs to show he can do something early in games, and not after his team is already too far behind. Detroit can put them down early again.
Atlanta at Miami
Chris: Falcons – This feels like a time Atlanta plays a complete game.
Steven: Falcons – Miami appears to be better than thought after beating Indianapolis, but they aren't on the level of top teams.
Buffalo at New York Jets
Chris: Bills – After almost upsetting New England, they came back with a great last second win. They could be a wild-card possibly.
Steven: Bills – Buffalo needs to shore up its defense before it can contend. The Jets can be a good start to getting there.
Jacksonville at Seattle
Chris: Seahawks – I made the mistake with Atlanta as my starting fantasy defense last week over Seattle. Will not happen again.
Steven: Seahawks – This would be a game if Jacksonville won, you would need to just forget about ever understanding football again.
Indianapolis at San Francisco
Chris: 49ers – Even with the horrible performance in Seattle, I still like the way Colin Kaepernick can play.
Steven: 49ers – I don't get as concerned about east-to-west coast trips as I do the other way, but Indianapolis has several things it needs to figure out right now.
Chicago at Pittsburgh
Chris: Bears – Is 0-3 possible in Pittsburgh? They're playing like they're old.
Steven: Bears – This is the type of game Jay Cutler blows up in, but just maybe things could be different this season.
Oakland at Denver
Chris: Broncos – Peyton … Manning.
Steven: Broncos – What he said.
