The Indianapolis Star's Phil Richards is reporting that "numerous sources" are claiming that Indianapolis Colts' owner Jim Irsay will interview former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel.

Richards reported that Irsay flew to Sarasota, FL, Tressel's winter home and returned later today to Indianapolis. Tressel served as a replay booth assistant coach this season after being dismissed at Ohio State amid the scandal that ultimately resulted in suspensions of several players and NCAA sanctions.

Tressel was 106-22 in ten seasons at Ohio State, winning the BCS championship in 2002 and appearing in two other BCS title games. The NCAA issued a five year "show cause" penalty against Tressel as part of their sanctions against the school. This effectively prevents the 59 year-old Tressel from pursuing a college coaching position during that time.

The NFL Networks' Jason LaCanfora also reported earlier that former Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress was also a candidate. Childress does have a Colts connection, serving as quarterbacks coach in 1985, his first NFL coaching position. He went on to coach the Vikings from 2006 until last season. He was 39-35 in Minnesota, winning two NFC North titles and reaching the NFC championship game in 2009.

The Colts have reportedly already interviewed New Orleans offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and Tennessee defensive coordinator Jerry Gray.
