Green Bay Packers (3-2) wide receiver James Jones, linebacker Brad Jones, outside linebacker Nick Perry, outside linebacker Clay Matthews, running back James Starks, tight end Ryan Taylor and cornerback Casey Hayward have all been ruled out for Sunday's home game against the Cleveland Browns (3-3).
James Jones was questionable to play Sunday after suffering a PCL sprain in his knee in a win over the Baltimore Ravens last weekend. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday Jones would've been a "game-time decision" against the Browns.
Without Jones, the Packers will start Jordy Nelson and Jarrett Boykin at wide receiver, while rookies Myles White and Chris Harper will serve as backups. The Packers signed Harper to the team on Friday after releasing rookie running back Michael Hill.
Brad Jones (hamstring) will miss his second-consecutive game, as third-year linebacker Jamari Lattimore will start in his place again on Sunday. Against the Ravens, Lattimore recorded three tackles, including two tackles for a loss.
Perry broke his foot against the Ravens, while Matthews will miss his second-consecutive start because of a broken thumb. Without both Perry and Matthews, the Packers are limited at outside linebacker.
Luckily for Green Bay, the Packers were able to activate outside linebacker Mike Neal for Sunday. Neal did not participate in practice this week because of a shoulder injury. Neal though is the most experienced outside linebacker for Green Bay today, as rookies Andy Mulumba and Nate Palmer will be rotating at linebacker on Sunday.
Starks has been out since suffering a knee injury in a week three loss at Cincinnati and he is missing his third-consecutive game. Taylor suffered what McCarthy called a "surprising" knee injury last weekend and he was ruled out of Sunday's game earlier this week.
Hayward (hamstring) has yet to play a game this season. Hayward was a limited-participant in practice this past week for Green Bay, which was the most he has practiced since suffering an injury at the end of training camp.
The Packers, like every NFL team, has officially activated 46 players for Sunday but many additional players such as Neal or cornerback Jarrett Bush may not see the field against Cleveland as they continue to recover from injury.
