The Green Bay Packers have released quarterback Vince Young, according to Young's official twitter account. Young was signed by the Packers days before the team's first exhibition game of the preseason, and was competing for the backup quarterback job with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman. Harrell was released last week, leaving Coleman as the likely Packers backup quarterback.

In other news, the Green Bay Packers will workout former New York Jet and free agent running back Joe McKnight on Saturday, according to FOX Sports Mike Garafolo. McKnight tweeted he was "Headed to GREEN BAY TOMORROW, #freshstart" on his Twitter account earlier on Friday. McKnight was released by the Jets on Monday after he spent his first three NFL seasons.

McKnight was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of USC. In three NFL seasons, McKnight has 112 carries for 502 rushing yards, as well as two kick returns for touchdowns in his career.

The Packers have until 5 p.m. Saturday to trim their roster from 75 players to 53.
