The Green Bay Packers placed running back DuJuan Harris on the Injured-Reserve list Tuesday, according to Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Harris re-injured his knee during Friday’s preseason loss against the Seattle Seahawks. Physically, Harris has had a tough offseason leading up to 2013.
Before mini-camp, Harris had a non-cancerous tumor removed from his lungs, and the Packers placed him on the PUP list before training camp with the same knee injury. Harris returned to practice before the team’s second preseason game in St. Louis a couple of weeks ago, but he reportedly received multiple opinions on his knee after re-injuring the same knee on Friday.
Because Harris was removed from the PUP list during training camp, the Packers can’t put him back on the PUP list. The Packers signed Harris off of the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad in late 2012, and he rushed for 157 yards and scored two touchdowns in the last four games of the 2012 regular season for the Packers.
McCarthy said he is hopeful for Harris to return at mid-season, as Harris is required to miss the first eight games of the 2013 season.
