Micah Pellerin was signed by the Green Bay Packers as the organization continues to strengthen its defensive unit during the off season. The roster move also involved the waiving of wide receiver Marcus Rivers, who last played for the University at Buffalo and was listed as a rookie by the Packers.

Micah Pellerin will come to the Packers training camps at six feet tall and weighing in at 194 pounds. This is good but not great size for a defensive back who will be playing against the number one wide outs in the NFL. He played as a cornerback for Hampton University last year. Micah came to Hampton via a transfer from Southern Mississippi University. Micah played well enough in 2011 to earn a place on the all conference team. Pellerin does seem to know how to line up and play in the defensive backfield making a single game career high 30 tackles during his junior season for the Pirates.

NFL.com reported that Pellerin will be a developmental project for a team. There is hope he can develop by completing reps at safety along with M D Jenning, Dion Turner, and Sean Richardson during preseason workouts. During mini and training camps Micah should be able to use his 4.6 speed and game time knowledge to earn a final roster spot for the 2012 NFL season.
