There's a tournament inside the tournament at The Barclay's this afternoon. It involves competitors who have no chance to win this event, but still have a chance to win $10 Million next month.
Last week at the Wyndham Championship there was jockeying to get inside the top 125 in FedEx Cup points to qualify for the season ending FedEx Cup series. This week the bubble has moved to the Top 100 in points at the end of The Barclays, with those qualifying moving on to play at the Deutsche Bank Championship next week in Boston.
Pretty much anybody who finishes in the top 40 at The Barclay's will move on. So for bubble sitters like Geoff Ogilvy and Stuart Appleby, they're in a familiar position to last week. They both must play well and move up the board to have a chance. Others that are right there include George McNeill, Carl Petterson, Martin Kaymer, and Camilo Villegas.
There will be little room for error as every birdie opportunity must be capitalized on and every par save holed. Otherwise, the season will end earlier than hoped for some near the Big Apple.
