PGA Tour rookie Patrick Reed, with his wife on the bag caddying for him, took the 2nd round lead of the 2013 Wyndham Championship, shooting a 64 to enter the weekend at 11 under par. He's closely pursued by 23 year old John Huh, who shot a tournament low 62 to move to 10 under par, only one stroke back.
Jordan Spieth, who just turned 20 after winning at age 19 last month at the John Deere Classic, continued his sterling play with a second round 66, leaving him only two shots off the pace.
Several name players, who were on the bubble for qualifying for the FedEx Cup series that begins next week, have all but played themselves out of a chance to land spots there. Peter Hanson and Padraig Harrington, 126th and 129th in FedEx points coming in, both missed the cut with a 73 and 74 respectively. Others who blew their chances despite being close coming in were Bud Cauley, Fabian Gomez, Woody Austin, and Tag Ridings. All of them missed the cut.
But others have given themselves a fighting chance in both the tournament and the FedEx Cup. First round co-leader Ross Fisher is tied for 3rd after his second round 69, and Jim Herman made a charge with a second round 66, that puts him right in the mix qualifying to play next week. David Toms still has an outside chance after a second round 66, but he'll need to probably finish in the top four at Greensboro to secure his spot.
