Rory McIlroy has reportedly ended his relationship with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. Comments from people close to McIlroy's camp say that he ended things with Wozniacki after she tweeted a photo of him asleep with his mouth wide open.

Reports also seem to indicate that McIlroy had grown a bit weary of the relationship and the tweet was the final straw, and he actually ended things several weeks ago. Wozniacki was reportedly devastated and continues to display a picture of the couple in happier times on her twitter account.

McIlroy has struggled in the past year with his golf game, his first winless year since turning professional back in 2009. He's gone from being ranked #1 in the world to failing to qualify for the FedEx Cup Tour Championship last month in Atlanta in one short year.

There are some opinions that Wozniacki had become a distraction. Gary Player chimed in with his view on this.

"If you're a young man like Rory, you can't play with worries," Player said. "You can't have managerial problems, you can't have women problems. You've got to be out there and have a free mind. And that's why Arnold [Palmer], Jack [Nicklaus] and I won something like 55 majors between us. Because we had three wives that were very, very special.

The 2013 PGA Tour and FedEx Cup Race just ended three weekends ago. In the past, the next tour season and cup race didn't begin until January of each year.

Until now. The 2013-2014 PGA Tour Season and FedEx Cup race begins this weekend at the 2013 Frys.com Open at the CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California.

The official off season is much shorter now, at three weeks. It will still be a long off season for the world elite players. Don't expect to see Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, or Adam Scott out playing in any of the domestic events. It's possible that one or two elite players will pop in a couple of the international events that will part of this "off-season" phase of the tour schedule. One elite player that may pop into one or two events could be Rory Mcllroy who is looking for a huge comeback from his struggles during the past season. But it's just as likely he'll simply be working on the weaknesses in his game to gear up for a big January start.

USA Wins the 2013 President’s Cup

The International Team showed spunk during Singles matches today, but in the end, needing only 3 1/2 points to win the Cup outright, Team USA has won the 2013 President’s Cup. It may have only been fitting that Tiger Woods provided the winning point with his one up victory over Richard Sterne in the ninth match of the afternoon. The only match still on the course is the Phil Mickelson, Angel Cabrera match.

Every time it looks like the International Team is going to make a turnaround run at the 2013 President's Cup, it seems that Team USA has an answer.

During a marathon day that began at 7:30 AM with four matches from Friday's Foursomes still to be completed, Team USA extended it's one point lead at the end of that session to four points by the end of the Saturday Four-Ball Session. It did so by dominating that Four-Ball round by winning four of five matches.

Four of the five afternoon Foursome matches weren't completed because of darkness, but not before Team USA added another point in the only match that was.

Zach Johnson holed out his approach shot from the 15th fairway for an unlikely birdie, to complete a remarkable comeback. He and Jason Dufner birdied six of eight holes and came from two down to win 4-3. Johnson atoned for a poor tee shot on 15 that forced Dufner to play a recovery shot back into the fairway that set up the heroics in the alternate shot format.

Lindsey Vonn Gets Squirrely with Tiger Woods at the President’s Cup

October 5th, 2013 at 7:39 AM
By Rick Siddons

This scene went viral when shown on television at the President's Cup during Thursday's four-ball matches.

Team USA assistant Captain Davis Love had made friends with a young squirrel earlier in the day. As most of Team USA was watching the final matches come down the 18th fairway, Tiger Woods seemed intense in observing what was going on. His girlfriend, Olympic Ski Medalist Lindsey Vonn, decided to have some fun.

Love handed the squirrel over to Vonn, and she decided to try to put the squirrel first inside Tiger's shirt, and then his shoulder. He didn't seem amused at first, but eventually fell into the fun of the moment.
