Detroit Red Wings 2014-15 Schedule Released

The Detroit Red Wings have released their schedule for the 2014-15 season, and they will begin the season against the same team which they ended their season against.

The Wings will open the regular season at Joe Louis Arena against the Boston Bruins on October 9. The Bruins were the same team that knocked the Red Wings out of the playoffs last season. The teams will also meet again at The Joe six days later on October 15.

The first road game for the Wings is in Toronto on October 17 against the Maple Leafs.

A few other highlights:


  • The reigning Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings will pay a visit to the Joe on Halloween.
  • The Wings will host the Philadelphia Flyers on November 26, which is the night before Thanksgiving.
  • They will play the Maple Leafs five times before the end of 2014 (Oct 17 road, Oct 18 home, Nov 22 road, Dec 10 home, Dec 13 road).
  • The Colorado Avalanche come to town on December 21 for a Sunday tilt.
  • New Year's Eve at the Joe will return with the Wings hosting the Devils.
  • January will open with a six-game road trip, with the first three games in Western Canada.
  • The Minnesota Wild will be the last opponent prior to the All-Star break (Jan 20). The Wings will resume play in Florida on January 27 against the Panthers.
  • February features the Wings playing nine of 11 games on the road, including a six game road trip that includes a three-game west coast trip.
  • The Wings will also play on Easter Sunday (April 5) at home against the Capitals before concluding the home portion of the schedule April 7 against Carolina.
  • Speaking of Carolina, the Wings will end the regular season in Raleigh.
  • The Wings will also play ten sets of back-to-back games.
