The Red Wings have returned home from their West Coast road trip for a couple of days before going to New York City to play the New York Rangers tomorrow night.

The team will still be without several injured forwards, MLive's Ansar Khan writes, as Daniel Alfredsson (back spasms), Pavel Datsyuk (lower body), Johan Franzen (concussion), and Darren Helm (groin) are still out.

Franzen and Helm practiced today, but Datsyuk and Alfredsson did not.

Head coach Mike Babcock has had enough of talking about injured players.

“I’ve said this a number of times this year, enough to make me want to puke, is that I’m focused on the players that are here,” Babcock said to reporters.

There has been no timetable for the aforementioned players to return. However, goaltender Jimmy Howard will return to action tomorrow night after sitting on Sunday with a hip flexor.

“Practiced again today and felt fine, so I’m good to go (Thursday),” Howard said.

TOMAS JURCO RECALLED: The Wings recalled forward Tomas Jurco from the Grand Rapids Griffins yesterday to replace Tomas Tatar in the lineup for Thursday.

Tatar will be attending his father's funeral in Slovakia.

DATSYUK NAMED CAPTAIN: Pavel Datsyuk will don the "C" on his jersey for the first time in his career at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Datsyuk was named the captain for Team Russia over Washington Capitals winger and captain Alexander Ovechkin.

“It’s an honor, humbled to represent Russian team, especially in home country,” Datsyuk said. “Lots of pressure for us, but so happy.”

“He’s the leader in our room a lot and he’s always showing by example." Teammate Brendan Smith said. "I think if he gets speak his own language he’d be even a more vocal player for that team so it makes more sense that he’d be captain.”

Datsyuk won't be the only Red Wing captaining an Olympic team, as current Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg will wear the "C" for Team Sweden.
