Flames Update: The Flames might be near the bottom of the West, but they may have a turnaround going, as they are 2-2-1 in their last five games since general manager Jay Feaster was fired. But then again, they were blanked 2-0 by the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. Former Red Wing Jiri Hudler leads the Flames in scoring with 30 points. Dennis Wideman (hand) is the only player out with injuries, but Mike Cammalleri (flu) is a game time decision. Karri Ramo gets the start in net tonight. He has yet to face the Red Wings in his career.

Red Wings Update: December has gone into a tailspin for the Wings, as they have gone 2-5-2 this month, and are mired in a six-game losing skid. Injuries have been a factor as Justin Abdelkader (concussion), Johan Franzen (concussion), Darren Helm (flu), Danny DeKeyser (shoulder), Jimmy Howard (knee), Stephen Weiss (groin), Gustav Nyquist (groin), and Henrik Zetterberg (back) are all out. But injuries aren't an excuse for a losing skid, as Niklas Kronwall said after Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Jonas Gustavsson will be in net tonight after he was yanked in the first period of Tuesday's loss. He has not played well against the Flames in his career.

Players to Watch

Flames:

Sean Monahan: The rookie center is tied for the team lead in goals with ten on the year.

Mike Cammalleri: The former University of Michigan star has averaged a point per game against the Wings in his career (23 points in 23 games).

Lee Stempniak: Another player who always seems to score against the Red Wings.

Red Wings:

Tomas Jurco: Scored his first career goal on Tuesday. Maybe he will find the back of the net again tonight.

Pavel Datsyuk: Only Red Wing in tonight's lineup who scored a goal in the last meeting against the Flames

Jordin Tootoo: Was recalled yesterday to give the team some energy. He could drop the gloves with Brian McGrattan.

Prediction: This looks like the night for the losing streak to end, but given that Gustavsson has been a gas can around the Flames (pun not intended), the skid will hit seven.

Make It: Flames 5, Red Wings 3.
