Red Wings Update: The Red Wings cannot catch a break, as they are mired in a five game losing skid. The most recent loss was a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. The injuries have also mounted up too, as Gustav Nyquist (groin) and Johan Franzen (concussion) have joined Henrik Zetterberg (back), Darren Helm (shoulder), Jimmy Howard (knee), Justin Abdelkader (concussion), Danny DeKeyser (shoulder), and Stephen Weiss (groin) as among those out. The team recalled Riley Sheahan from Grand Rapids to take Franzen's spot after Sunday's loss.

Ducks Update: Known as a team that starts the season slow and usually gets hot from January-on, the Ducks have been at or near the top of the Western Conference most of the season. They are coming off of a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, as Dustin Penner scored the game-winner. On the injury front, Sheldon Souray (wrist), Luca Sbisa (wrist), Mark Fistric (upper body), and Viktor Fasth (lower body) are all out, but Jakob Silfverberg will return from a broken hand.

Players to Watch

Ducks:

Corey Perry: 21 goals and 15 assists more than speaks for itself.

Ryan Getzlaf: 39 points on the year. Both he and Perry will also be together for Team Canada at the Olympics

Cam Fowler: The Farmington Hills, Michigan native will be playing in front of family tonight. Also leads all Ducks defensemen with 19 points.

Teemu Selanne: The Finnish Flash still keeps on truckin' at 43 years old. Will this be the last time he skates at the Joe?

Red Wings:

Pavel Datsyuk: Besides leading the Wings in goals (13), he has been a Duck-killer in his career. Just ask Perry.

Daniel Alfredsson: Still needs one assist to reach 700 for his career.

Jonas Gustavsson: 2-0-0 record vs. the Ducks in his career.

Prediction: I'm not saying that the Red Wings' season is in the toilet, but it is starting to head that way. Playing with a mostly AHL lineup won't help against one of the top teams in the West.

Make It: Ducks 6, Griffins Red Wings 1
