The Red Wings conclude their only trip to Western Canada this year tonight with a trip to Winnipeg to play the Jets.
This is the first time that the Wings will play a game in Winnipeg since April 28, 1996. That game was a series clincher for the Wings in the Western Conference Quarterfinals as they eliminated the Jets 4-2. It was also the last game in Winnipeg for the Original Jets, as they would move to Phoenix the following season.
The new Jets are the former Atlanta Thrashers.

Red Wings Update: The Red Wings kept on truckin' through Western Canada, as they shellacked the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 on Saturday. Five different players scored, while Petr Mrazek recorded his first NHL shutout stopping 14 shots. Pavel Datsyuk continues to hold the scoring lead with 15 points in 15 games. Henrik Zetterberg leads in goals with seven on the year. The Wings will be without Johan Franzen (flu), Jonathan Ericsson (shoulder), and Brendan Smith (shoulder) for the game. Adam Almquist was recalled from Grand Rapids and will make his NHL debut tonight. Jimmy Howard will be back in net after getting the night off on Saturday.
Jets Update: The Jets still look like the mess they were while in Atlanta, as they have lost six of their last seven games. The most recent was a 5-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Tobias Enstrom scored the only goal. Bryan Little leads the Jets in scoring (11 points) and in goals (7). In terms of injuries, the Jets will be without Jacob Trouba (neck), Mark Stuart (hip), Paul Potsman (blood clot), and Jim Slater (undisclosed). Evander Kane (lower body) did not practice this morning and is listed as a game-time decision. If he sits, Eric Tangradi will likely take his place. Al Montoya gets the start in goal.
Players to Watch:
Tomas Tatar: Tatar has three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in his last three games, and appears to be finding his rhythm.
Joakim Andersson: He has three points in his last two games, and looks to continue his goal streak to three games.
Darren Helm: Scored in his first game back from injuries, and will be playing in front of his hometown crowd.
Devin Setoguchi: Setoguchi always seems to score against the Red Wings. The last time he faced them, he scored two goals as a member of the Minnesota Wild.
Dustin Byfuglien: The big defenseman has nine assists on the season.
Evander Kane: One of the more underrated wingers in the NHL. He will be a factor if he plays tonight.
Prediction: The MTS Centre is the NHL's smallest arena, but it is very loud. The Wings will need to quiet the crowd quickly if they want to get eight out of eight points on the road trip. The Jets are a team that seems to make a late push for the playoffs, but can never get over the hump. At the end of the night, the loudest cheer could be from Helm's family.
Make It: Red Wings 4, Jets 2.
