However, that isn't likely to happen anytime soon, and Holland is fine with that.
“We’re comfortable where we’re at right now,'' Holland said to MLive's Ansar Khan. “Before we do anything we’d have to move somebody. It's pretty quiet in the industry right now. Everybody probably is into a bit of a summer mode.''
Holland also said that restricted free agents Gustav Nyquist and Joakim Andersson will be re-signed by September. That would give them 25 players under contract, two over the limit of 23. Assuming no injuries, at least two players will be traded or waived.
The aforementioned also means that the chances of Daniel Cleary being re-signed are slim to none.
In other news, Holland said that winger Mikael Samuelsson will not need surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, and is expected to be ready for training camp in September.
The club also announced that Stephen Weiss will wear number 90 this coming season. The last Red Wing to wear 90 was Mike Modano.
