So when is the NHL going to cancel the 2013 Winter Classic?
A report from TSN says that the event will be canceled today, per Darren Dreger, Bob McKenzie, and Pierre LeBrun.
However, The Globe and Mail's David Shoalts writes that the event will not be canceled until November 15 at least.
Shoalts writes that if the NHL cancels the event by today, they would be refunded every penny except for a $100,000 security deposit. After today, that amount would rise to $250,000.
One source told Shoalts that the NHL would not have a problem paying $250,000 "because it’s not a large payment given the mathematics of the deal.”
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly declined to comment on any deadlines.
