A relatively solid week of picks for both Cooper and Izzy has shockingly left each dog above .500. Their human expert is struggling to fight off his canine competition, only one game ahead of the St. Bernard mix and two games up on a lab trying to climb out of the selection cellar.
This week, the "Manning Bowl" takes center stage, as both dogs like big brother Peyton to defeat Eli. Apparently, in their minds, the hometown Detroit Lions' 1-0 start was simply a mirage as well, as they select the Arizona Cardinals to put the Lions back to 1-1 in the desert. Otherwise, there's a fair mix of chalk picks and upsets for week two.
St. Louis at Atlanta: Following a loss last week, both dogs like the Falcons to bounce back at home against the Rams, who had to come back against Arizona at home. Make it a clean sweep for the birds. C: Atlanta, I: Atlanta, Max: Atlanta
Carolina at Buffalo: Again, the dogs agree, each taking the Panthers to beat Buffalo on the road. The Bills win, though, encouraged by last week's near miss performance against the Patriots. C: Carolina, I: Carolina, Max: Buffalo
Minnesota at Chicago: The first split vote of the week. Cooper likes the Vikings to get back on track after last week's loss to Detroit, while Izzy thinks the Bears go to 2-0 at home. After a solid performance last week, it's hard to pick against Chicago this time around. C: Minnesota, I: Chicago, Max: Chicago
Washington at Green Bay: Coming back home from the west coast, Izzy thinks the Packers rebound. Cooper, however, thinks Washington wins after their tough loss on Monday night. The Packers have more weapons and the home crowd, making Izzy correct. C: Washington, I: Green Bay, Max: Green Bay
Miami at Indianapolis: A clean sweep for the dogs again, as both take the Colts. Cooper, apparently, learned from his mistake last week. The Colts open 2-0 with a win. C: Indianapolis, I: Indianapolis, Max: Indianapolis
Dallas at Kansas City: Cooper likes the Chiefs while Izzy is a believer in the Cowboys after their big win last week. Home field helps out and Tony Romo is still turnover prone, so Cooper has the right idea with this one. C: Kansas City, I: Dallas, Max: Kansas City
San Diego at Philadelphia: After accurately predicting the impact of Chip Kelly's new offense last week, Cooper abandons the Eagles' ship. Izzy stays on, which is the right move. C: San Diego, Izzy: Philadelphia, Max: Philadelphia
Cleveland at Baltimore: In a battle between the new Browns and the old Browns, Cooper likes the new Browns. Izzy, meanwhile, flies with the birds once again. Ravens win big. C: Cleveland, Izzy: Baltimore, Max: Baltimore
Tennessee at Houston: Similarly, in the contest between the new Oilers and the old Oilers, Cooper likes the old Oilers. Izzy sticks with what worked for her last week, picking Tennessee. The Titans pull the upset here on the road. C: Houston, I: Tennessee, Max: Tennessee.
Detroit at Arizona: Not good news for the hometown Lions, as both dogs picked them to win last week, but now, both select them to lose this time around. They're wrong this time, though. Detroit finds a way to win on the road with a big offensive attack. C: Arizona, I: Arizona, Max: Detroit
The dogs might not be on board with a Lions win this week, but everybody is on board with this awesome Matthew Stafford autographed mini helmet from MJR Sports Integrity!
New Orleans at Tampa Bay: Cooper sticks with the Saints while Izzy takes Tampa Bay to win at home. The Bucs get back to even footing with a win. C: New Orleans, I: Tampa Bay, Max: Tampa Bay
Jacksonville at Oakland: In the "these teams could go winless" bowl, someone has to emerge victorious. Both dogs think it's the Raiders behind Terrelle Pryor's running. Oakland does get the job done at home. C: Oakland, I: Oakland, Max: Oakland
Denver at New York Giants: It's brother against brother this week, and the dogs are picking the high-flying attack of Peyton Manning over Eli Manning. The Giants have many injury troubles and can't run the ball, so they're easy pickings for the Broncos. C: Denver, I: Denver, Max: Denver
San Francisco at Seattle: When Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll meet, fireworks usually result. Cooper likes the vociferous Qwest Field environment to pull the Seahawks through, while Izzy thinks the 49ers move to undefeated. it's hard to win in Seattle, so the 'Hawks get it done. C: Seattle, I: San Francisco, Max: Seattle
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (Monday night): The week wraps up with the Steelers and Bengals, and surprisingly, both dogs are going with the cats here. Pittsburgh is a mess with injuries and offensive problems, so that won't play well on the road. Bengals win. C: Cincinnati, I: Cincinnati, Max: Cincinnati
