Just before the start of the weekend, the Detroit Lions have made several waves with regards to free agency. Prior to Detroit's rookie mini-camp, the Lions have all nine of their rookie free agents in the fold, and are beginning to scour the market for help in other important places.
Lions' links runs down all the latest free agency news as things apparently are getting a bit busier on Detroit's front.
- First up, the rookies. Ziggy Ansah became the final piece of Detroit's puzzle to sign on Friday morning. he joins Darius Slay, Larry Warford, Devin Taylor, Sam Martin, Corey Fuller, Theo Riddick, Michael Williams and Brandon Hepburn. All but Slay will be participating in Detroit's mini-camp this weekend. -–Detroit Free Press
- Joshua Cribbs, former returner from the Cleveland Browns, is scheduled to visit with Detroit soon. The electrifying talent is the best return man on the market and the Lions certainly have a need there. Cribbs has previously visited the Oakland Raiders, New York Giants, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals and would be an immediate upgrade. —Detroit Free Press
- Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated put down the Lions twice on his list of the best remaining free agent fits. Max Starks and Dwight Freeney make Detroit's cut, and Burke thinks the fit could be natural at the spots of tackle and defensive end, given Detroit's inexperience and lack of depth at the spots. —Sports Illustrated
- The Lions might indeed be sniffing around the tackle market, as Winston Justice, a free agent formally of the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts, worked out in Detroit this week. Justice is a veteran, and would provide depth at right tackle behind Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard. —Mlive
