Peyton Manning 2012

The Denver Broncos lost in heartbreaking fashion nearly a month ago to the eventual Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens, 38-35 in double overtime. The Broncos went home early after a 13-3 season, while the Ravens won a Super Bowl in New Orleans last Sunday to end their own 2012 season,

If there is any consolation, the Broncos are the current betting favorites as Super Bowl Champions for Super Bowl XLVIII. The Broncos – not the Ravens – are the first betting favorites since the 2012 NFL season came to a conclusion with the Ravens' 34-31 victory over the Niners in Super Bowl XLVII.

It makes sense considering Denver will return most of their key players entering 2013. The one free agent that the Broncos need to re-sign is left tackle Ryan Clady, who enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. The Ravens are losing Ray Lewis to retirement, and possible other key players who are set to enter free agency such as defensive end Paul Kruger, safety Ed Reed and Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco.

The Ravens are currently at No. 5 as far as betting favorites are concerned as of the moment. The Patriots and Niners are tied at second, with Green Bay in the fourth slot.
