A source says that Delonte West is not expected to return to Dallas, just one day after he was suspended for a second time this month.
After the Mavs' preseason loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, the team suspended the guard once again for conduct detrimental to the team. The Mavs are working on a buyout for the veteran guard, who is once again playing on a one-year veteran minimum contract.
Eddy Curry was picked up by Dallas and is expected to start for the Mavs in their final preseason game tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats.
Curry is expected to replace West on the roster, although that roster spot is not guaranteed. Dallas also picked up players Chris Douglas-Roberts and Melvin Ely.
Dallas is short bigs, as Brandan Wright and Chris Kaman are out of this preseason finale with injuries. Curry provides depth as Kaman is doubtful for Tuesday's season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, while Wright is questionable.
Dirk Nowitzki is on the shelf recovering from knee surgery. He is expected to return in about five weeks.
