After spending a year in Japan, Nyjer Morgan is back to compete for an outfield spot this spring with the Cleveland Indians, the team announced.

Morgan, 33, played for the Pirates and Nationals before posting his best season in 2011 with the Milwaukee Brewers. He batted .304 with 13 stolen bases and 61 runs scored.

Last year, Morgan played for the Yokohama BayStars. He hit .294 with 11 homers and 50 RBI.

Morgan is known for his outsize personality, which has spilled over into several alter egos. The most famous, Tony Plush, has more than 72,000 Twitter followers.
