Los Angeles used a barrage of home runs to beat the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 to cut the Cards’ lead to 3 games to 2 in the National League Championship Series.
Adrian Gonzalez broke a 2-2 tie with a solo home run in the third inning. The Dodgers expanded their lead with home runs by Carl Crawford in the fifth, A.J. Ellis in the seventh and Gonzalez again in the eighth.
Clayton Kershaw will start Game 6 for the Dodgers on Friday night in St. Louis against the Cards’ rookie, Michael Wacha.
In the American League Championship Series, the Detroit Tigers won at home over the Boston Red Sox 7-3 to tie the series at two games apiece.
Doug Fister held the Red Sox to eight hits and a run over six innings. Meanwhile, his teammates bombed Jake Peavy for seven runs in just over three innings.
Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera each drove in two runs for Detroit.
The pivotal Game 5 will take place tonight, as Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez matches up against Boston’s Jon Lester.
