Rallying from a 3-0 deficit, the Cleveland Indians clinched a winning season with a 5-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals last night at Kaufmann Stadium.
The Tribe struggled early against fireballing rookie Yordano Ventura, who held them scoreless for five innings while the Royals built a 3-0 lead against Corey Kluber.
Michael Brantley started the comeback with an RBI single in the sixth inning, scoring Nick Swisher.
Asdrubal Cabrera put the Tribe on top in the eighth inning when he doubled to score Drew Stubbs. Bourn (pictured) added an insurance run in the ninth on a 400-foot home run to right field.
During the Tribe rally, Cleveland relievers Rich Hill, Brian Shaw, Marc Rzepczynski, Cody Allen (6-1), Joe Smith and Chris Perez (25th save) kept the Royals off the scoreboard for 4 1/3 innings.
The Indians are a half-game behind Tampa Bay and Texas in the race for the two wild-card playoff spots.
Cleveland (82-69) and Kansas City will decide the three-game series tonight at 8:10. Danny Salazar (1-2) will pitch for the Tribe.
