Tribe starter Danny Salazar struck out nine batters in just 3 2/3 innings. However, Francona had him on a pitch count because he hasn’t pitched this many innings in a single season. So after seeing 78 of his pitches, the White Sox were happy to say goodbye to Salazar.
Nick Hagadone gave up an unearned run in the fifth, but the other six Tribe relievers kept the Sox off the board. Bryan Shaw (4-3) picked up the win, while Chris Perez picked up his 24th save.
At the plate, Cleveland broke a scoreless tie when Drew Stubbs singled in the fourth inning to score Asdrubal Cabrera.
The Tribe extended its lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning. Ryan Raburn continued his hot streak with an RBI double, and Michael Brantley added a sacrifice fly.
